From Our Founder, Steve McKeever

I don’t like to make a lot of noise about myself. I love to make a lot of noise about great musicians who are making great music. It’s how this record label got started.

As I reflect upon the past 20 years, it’s hard to believe that we have come this far. Hidden Beach is one of those “impossible dreams” made possible. Truly an American success story in the classical sense. I can’t attribute it to pure ingenuity or just pure luck––however––I can say this: It was certainly made possible by a lot of great people along our 20 year journey. Far too many to name here. We are extremely thankful to you all.

Admittedly, we are not and never have been the typical record label. We don’t believe in creating good music just for the sake of creating good music; we believe in creating music that sounds good, but also music that does good. We try to do that every chance we get.

I had a clear vision for Hidden Beach Recordings 20 years ago. I wanted it to be a place where real artists could channel creative freedom––unencumbered by the typical pressures and demands of most record companies. Like any business, we still have to be financially concerned about bottom lines and quar- terly earnings, but we are not purely motivated by profit. It’s not what gets me or my incredible team out of bed every morning. We’re honestly motivated by this art-form––music––and the powerful things it can do in the lives of real people.

Some may call us “idealistic.” We proudly take that charge. Because the best music on the planet Earth is filled with ideals––the ideals of fearless musical creativity––and––lyrics that inspire us to the highest human ideals.

This is the power of music.  This is why we do it. We all need a reason to get out of bed in the morning; that’s just ours.

Cheers to another 20 years of great music making!

Happy 20th Anniversary to us,

— Steve McKeever
