Onitsha

ON

Singer / songwriter, Onitsha Shaw, has worked with Mary Mary, Stevie Wonder, Deborah Cox, Coko, famed producer, Shep Crawford, and others. She credits God for opening every door in her life to share her gifts. She is also one of the few in this world who can say that they are personal friends with the great Steveland Morris (Stevie Wonder)––and has known him for years.

Onitsha’s music can be described in three words: “a joy ministry.” The jazzy Neo Soul / Gospel star is never without a smile and admits to having an infectious, bubbly personality that is never without laughter. In her view, that spirit is an innate gift from God and she would be remiss to not share that joyful gift with the rest of the world. Her incredibly anointed voice is the tool she uses to do so.

Onitsha Laquis Shaw cites The Winans, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Mary Mary as being her favorite musical influences. And it shows in the quality of her musical works. Shaw has described the job of Gospel singers as being “lights” to a suffering world. Therefore, whether she’s working a background vocalist or centerstage in the spotlight, this “Church Girl” singer is just honored to be a part of the musical ministry. She gives her absolute all.

This beautifully talented Los Angeles native has one very clear mission––to sing her heart out until joy overcomes your day and a smile erupts on your face. That mission is evident in every melody she unleashes. PRESS PLAY on Onitsha
