When Wayman Tisdale, Keite Young’s great uncle, passed his nephew’s demo to Steve McKeever, Hidden Beach Founder & CEO, he was convincingly impressed by the young singer’s talent and signed him to the label.  Young was a self-taught keyboardist, drummer, and guitarist that came from a musical family and even toured and recorded with Kirk Franklin & Family before focusing on releasing an album of his own.  His debut album, The Rise and Fall of Keite Young, was released in 2007 and exhibited his versatility and showcased his roots. The album mixed R&B, a hint of gospel, soul, and funk, into a modern neo-soul sound that can be seen on its two singles “Pray,” and “If We Were Alone.”
